PERFORMANCE: Rihanna Gifts American Idol With A Performance Of 'Rockstar 101'...
Now, you guys know that we are nothing if not fair. We try to give everyone 2nd, 3rd - and in, some cases - 4th chances.
So, when we heard almost everyone slamming Rih's Rockstar 101 performance on last night's American Idol, we thought to ourselves ' it must be their dislike of her clouding their judgement'.
You see, we watch every Rihanna performance prepared to be pleasantly surprised by her perhaps improvement in the singing/dancing department. And we have yet to come away not disappointed.
The above is no different. As mentioned two paragraphs ago, we prepared ourselves to disprove those who said it was one of the worst performances they'd seen on Idol, full stop. SO, you cannot say we didn't try.
The performance was bad at best; her voice cracked several times and we had to force ourselves to finish it. While we admit Rihanna's working hard to learn the drums, it's clear in the above that she was miming the guitar solo. You KNOW we give credit where it's due - e.g. with her X Factor performance last year, her best to date - but we defy anyone to watch the above and say that it's acceptable for someone who is arguably one of the biggest stars out right now.
We've always believed that (funny, we know) singers should be able to sing, but Rihanna just seems to prove us wrong time and time again.
