The fifth instalment of today's 'Best Songs' feature, we have posted a list of our fifteen favourite Michael Jackson's songs after the jump.
15) 'Rock With You' - One of the King's sweeter vocals, this song showcased the very best of the 70s.
14) 'Stranger In Moscow' - Said to have popularized the beatbox movement in pop, the beautifully understated SIM features haunting vocals and solid production.
13) 'Man In The Mirror' - One of MJ's most iconic tracks, MITM was a summary of just how he lived his life. Yet another great vocal & the chorus was a beautiful touch.
12) 'Jam' - Underrated, in our opinion. Popularized the New Jack-The-Lad swing genre (earlier explored by Bobby Brown) and featured an insane beat.
11) 'Will You Be There'- One of MJ's most hauntingly beautiful vocals, the fact that it saw him reveal his innermost fears only added to its brilliance.
10) 'They Don't Care About Us' - Drum reliant production and angry vocals, Michael's superior skill saw him gradually add instruments for a solid finish.
09) 'Bad' - the titular song of our favourite album, it saw Mike return with the oft-copied 'GGGB' image and a new, DGAF attitude.
08) 'Don't Stop Till You..' - Another song that makes us happy from the minute the beat kicks in, this song sees a happier, more carefree MJ.
7) 'Liberian Girl'- Yet another #1 hit for the King, the afro-influence is evident throughout the song. Soaring vocals and drums = greatness.
06) 'Billie Jean' - Featuring one of the most iconic guitar riffs in history, no self-respecting 'Best Songs' list is complete without this track.
05) 'Dirty Diana'- One of Mike's darker songs, this featured an insane vocal and even crazier, electric guitar-reliant production. Brilliant.
4) 'Give In To Me'- the song that made us stans. Slash's feature was a work of genius & Mike's strong vocals are not to be sneezed at either.
03) 'Who Is It' - For the drum-heavy production and MJ's beatboxing alone, we must include this. But add in the haunting final part and...
02) 'Smooth Criminal' - we have described this as being 'perfectly produced'. Brilliant layering & an oft-copied structure result in its being one of the best songs in history.
01) 'Beat It' - In our opinion, quite possibly the greatest song ever produced. Sees an insane guitar solo & an excellently delivered vocal.
