The Wait Is Ova - 23.11.09
Is what we found on Rihanna's new twitter page. Regardless of the fact that we think she is a lot of marketing, good songs and a pretty face with little-to-zero actual talent, this has nothing to do with what we thought as soon as we read it, which was, 'arrogant much?'
We mean, you're not exactly on Queen B or Princess Brit's level, where people will gladly wait years for your next record if need be. Your label know better than anyone else that they have to keep you out there in order to maintain what little relevance and credibility you still have - which explains your ever changing hairstyles (every three or four days) and pap shots of you every other day.
The main problem is that, in doing this, they have made RiRi into an it-girl; more a fashion icon and person-who's-famous-for-doing-nothing (admittedly not far from the truth) than a singer, and that's not necessarily a good thing. People seem to have forgotten that you are (supposedly) a 'singer' first. But we personally never could take seriously anyone who hadn't at least written and/or produced at least one track by their fourth album. So, there you go.
And where's the first single? If you want to release an album next month, we need to have been hearing Russian Roulette (her next single) as of a couple of weeks ago...
Anyhoo, to sum up, didn't buy your last album (the critically acclaimed - but for good reason, GGGB), won't buy this one.
