Saw IV Trailer
We've always thought that after the third Saw installment, they should have called it a day. And we still think that they're just milking it now. Everyone knows the last two were nowhere near as good as the first three, but as long as there are suckers still willing to put up with second rate horror, the producers will (understandably) keep churning out sequels.
The sixth doesn't look much better. With Jigsaw terminally ill, it's up to Lieutenant Mark Hoffman to continue his work. Which he appears to do - without the pizzazz that the Jigsaw admittedly had. Apparently, Jigsaw's overall scheme will finally be understood.
But we're just not sure that we give a rat's arse anymore. The first Saw came out so long ago, that we've moved on to bigger and better things. The traps no longer shock us, the methods of killing are not longer quite as creative (remember the original saw trap, Amanda Young's jaw trap... considerably more terrifying and psychologically effective than most of the following ones) ; they all seem to be a re-hash of previous ones.
And it's just not that hot anymore. Saw doesn't create as much hype as it used to. No one discusses the ingenuity of the traps or, for that matter, the writers. It's a tired, washed-out series now. They should have called it a day three long years ago.
