TRIBUTE: A Year On From The Death Of The King Of Pop..
We're sure you remember where you where and what you were doing when you heard that the ICON Michael Jackson had passed away on 25th June 2009, now also known as The Day Music Died.
What is there to say that hasn't already been said? He really WAS the greatest to ever do it, nobody WILL ever be able to match his success, his talent or his creativity and, yes, it really does feel like music died that day.
We could go on for hours about the records he broke, paths he paved, the music elite of today that he influenced, the iconic videos and dances he gave us, the unmatchable success he had - but what would be the point? By now, you must surely know all of this.
EVERYONE felt the loss of him, regardless of whether you were his biggest fan or not. He truly was the most famous person on earth (as attested by the Guiness Book Of World Records) and the blanket news coverage of his death really hammered that home to those few none-believers that doubted the incredible impact he had on the world.
To those few that stupidly claim their fave is 'the next MJ' or is even (and, yes, we have actually heard this) 'better than MJ', just remember this: whatever your fave has done, or will do, MJ already did it bigger and better than they did, or will ever be able to. He is the untouchable artist - the one who your fave, when compared to, will always be found lacking.
So just remember that the next time you feel like even uttering your fave's name in the same sentence as his.
Remember that your fave can't possibly compete.
Remember that your fave could never replace him.
Remember that there will only ever be one Michael Jackson.
R.I.P: MICHAEL JACKSON, ICON, LEGEND, THE KING OF POP. (29TH AUGUST 1958 - 25TH JUNE 2009).
